The newest IKEA store opens in Miami tomorrow! #IKEAMiami

Disclosure: IKEA invited me to the pre-opening media event for their Miami location. The opinions expressed below are my own.

The day is here! The much-anticipated IKEA Miami store opens tomorrow, August 27th, at 9am. As of this morning, there were over 20 customers waiting for the store to open its doors (and I’m sure that number has significantly increased as the hours have passed). In celebration of this grand opening, IKEA has much in store for it’s customers over the next few days:

Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Rest Assured – The first 39 adults (18 and older) in line for the IKEA Miami grand opening on August 27, 2014 will receive a free EKTORP three-seat sofa, honoring our new 39th U.S. store.

Happy Birthday to You and Us – Visitors bringing proof to IKEA Miami on August 27, 2014 that their birthday is the same as the store’s can receive a gift card in the amount of $30.50, a tie-in with the prominent Miami-Dade area code.

IKEA is matching more than twice the amount of those prizes (a total of $10,000 per organization) with a donation to National Young Arts Foundation, a group that identifies and supports the next generation of visual, literary, performing and design artists, and Amigos for Kids, a Miami organization committed to child abuse prevention and awareness.

I was able to attend a pre-opening media event last week, and I can tell you firsthand that the store is amazing!! IKEA Miami, at 416,000 square feet, is the largest in the state, and contains the largest rooftop solar installation in South Florida. With 600 seats, it’s restaurant is the largest in the country. It also includes 44 inspirational room settings and three model home interiors (these are my favorite!), a bistro near the store’s exit which serves hot dogs, cinnamon buns, frozen yogurt and beverages, 1500 parking spaces, and SmaLand, the supervised children’s play area.

See for yourself:

I’m so happy that IKEA Miami is just a few hours from opening. I’ve been waiting for it for months, and can’t wait to visit again and get some shopping done.

IKEA Miami is located in Doral, adjacent to Dolphin Mall, just off Florida’s Turnpike. Regular business hours are 10am until 9pm, seven days a week.
