Family and Delivery Man

I’m the kind of person who believes that when it comes to family, the bigger the better. I have a big family, my grandmother is one of seven, and her dad is one of 17…I’ve got third and fourth cousins I haven’t even met yet. But thanks to social media, and especially the ties that bond us together, I love them just the same.

Then, my family dynamic changed a little over a decade ago, and got a bit bigger. I embraced re-connecting with my dad and the people that came along with it: my amazing stepmom (his then girlfriend), her two children, and their extended families. While family is about the blood you share, it’s about the bonds you have as well.

This is probably why I’m so excited about the upcoming movie Delivery Man, directed by Ken Scott. Delivery Man is a re-make of 2011’s Canadian comedy movie Starbuck, which I had the opportunity to see a few months ago. In the upcoming movie, Vince Vaughn plays David Wozniak, an underachiever who just slides by in life. Twenty years ago, he made anonymous donations to a fertility clinic, but due to a mix-up at the clinic he finds out he inadvertently fathered 533 children. Now, 142 of them have joined a lawsuit to find out who their father is, and David has to decide whether he should come forward or not. Delivery Man won’t be in theaters until November 22nd, but you can check out the exclusive trailer below.

I cannot imagine having more than the two children I have, let alone 533! But, I do know what it’s like to have a big family, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Delivery Man will surprise you, and remind us all that families come in all shapes and sizes.

Delivery Man hits theaters November 22nd, and is rated PG-13 due to mature content.
