Go back to school with everyone’s favorite monsters: Monsters University opens today in theaters nationwide!

Mike Wazowski always dreamed of being a Scarer, and we all know he works for Monsters Inc with his best bud Sulley, but how did he get there? And how did he and Sulley become such good friends?  Set 10 years prior to the events of Monsters Inc, Monsters University answers these questions and more.

Mike gets admitted to Monsters University, and studies hard to be the best Scarer he can be. But he has some stiff competition in James P. Sullivan (“Sulley”). Their competitiveness gets out of hand and gets them expelled from the scaring program, and Sulley gets kicked out of his fraternity, Roar Omega Roar (ROR). The fraternities and sororities on campus have the opportunity to participate in the annual Scare Games, and Dean Hardscrabble will automatically allow the winners of the Scare Games into the scaring program, so Mike joins Oozma Kappa (OK). But, Oozma Kappa is a player short, so Sulley joins Oozma Kappa and their unconventional team puts up quite the fight to try and win the Scare Games.

The boys were so excited that we were all able to attend this screening. They had been waiting for the movie for months! We all enjoyed it very much, it’s a great movie for the whole family. Here are their reviews in their own words:

Brandon – I thought it was really funny. My favorite part was when Mike pretends to be a globe.

Matthew – My favorite part of the movie was when Mike snapped and the robot screamed. It was very funny and it made me laugh.

Monsters University is directed by Dan Scanlon, produced by Kori Rae, with music composed by Randy Newman. Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi reprise their roles as the voices of Mike, Sulley, and Randall. Dean Hardscrabble is voiced to perfection by Helen Mirren. Other voice talents include Alfred Molina, Joel Murray, Peter Sohn, Charlie Day, Sean Hayes and Dave Foley.

Official Synopsis:

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.
