Thankful

I woke up around 8am this morning to start baking two Flan Cakes for today’s festivities.
One cake is to take to my mom’s house for a Thanksgiving lunch. In attendance will be my sister and brother, my mom, my grandparents, my uncle Val and Titi Maggie, my Godmother/Great Aunt and Uncle, my husband and the boys. These are my anchors. For a long time most of the people listed above were a constant in my life, and I am so very grateful for the love and support they have shown me day after day, month after month, year after year.
The second cake is going to my Tia Mirta’s house (my dad’s sister) for Thanksgiving dinner. In attendance at her house will be my aunt and her husband, my dad and stepmom, my stepbrother and stepsister, my cousin/stepsis-in-law, my brother-in-law, my beautiful nephews and niece, my other aunt and her husband, and my uncle and his wife. (Not in attendance will be cousin Y, who just had her baby boy last week and brought him home from the hospital just three days ago). Twelve years ago, all these people entered my life, and twelve years later I cannot imagine it without them.
Two cakes representing all the love I am surrounded by. I am thankful for many things, but the core of it all is my family. Without them, all of them, I am nothing.
